Here’s how Cisco would like you to conduct your “virtual” meetings (in the very near future)..:-)

Came across this really cool Flash demo which shows how MS Outlook, Cisco MeetingPlace, Video Telephony-enabled Cisco IP Phones and Cisco Call Managers can hum along and make scheduling/attending meetings a breeze.
We definitely have a good suite of applications/products here. Believe it or not, we’ll be competing in this space with a laundry list of companies. I am sure you’ve heard of atleast one of them - Microsoft..
Here’s an article (with screenshot below) that talks about Microsoft’s Live Communications Server 2005 product:

Two features that I really like about this product are:
- It does not require a phone for audio conferencing! Audio integration is “software” based which I really think is the way to go (more on this in a previous blog entry of mine).
- Look at the integration between the IM like “MS Communicator” and Exchange calendaring! Notice the status of Don Hall, where it says “Free until 2 pm”! Pretty slick, isin’t it?
I am sure there are others - Avaya, Webex or even Skype - who may in the end have the last laugh. However, there should be no second guessing on who would I be rooting for
