Surprise..Surprise..

Confession: It’s in times like these that I wish I was not so politically correct about what I say on this blog. In any case, it does not matter. Not surprisingly, the Fox News Channel and many Radio Talk Shows on my AM dial have nothing pertinent to offer the people of this country on any debate. For them, Global Warming is not important, but Al Gore and his personal private jet trips are. Iraq War is not important, but John Kerry’s medals earned in 1970s are. You get the idea.
And for the record, Sean Hannity is asinine when he says Al Gore has no right to tell him not to drive his SUV if he himself is flying around in personal private jets giving the Global Warming message. Leaving the facts aside, to me that is like saying to a doctor after you’ve been diagnosed with early stages of lung cancer thanks to years of smoking - “Doctor, I know you’ve done some great research into the after effects of smoking, but I am not going to listen to you cause you smoke”. Frankly, forget Global Warming Mr. Hannity. In my humble opinion, in this day and age, there is nothing more patriotic for an averge American than figuring out ways to reduce their dependence on oil (or reduce their “carbon footprint”, as Al Gore’s movie taught me) - oil for which we have to cozy up to regimes that are just about as bad as they come. As Thomas Friedman has said on many occasions, thanks to our insatiable and unquenchable desire for oil, we’re funding both sides of this war on terrorism:
We are financing the U.S. armed forces with our tax dollars, and, through our profligate use of energy, we are generating huge windfall profits for Saudi Arabia, Iran and Sudan, where the cash is used to insulate the regimes from any pressure to open up their economies, liberate their women or modernize their schools, and where it ends up instead financing madrassas, mosques and militants fundamentally opposed to the progressive, pluralistic agenda America is trying to promote. Now how smart is that?…This is a perfect example of the Bush energy policy at work, and the Bush energy policy is: “No Mullah Left Behind.”
