King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia told Arab leaders on Wednesday that the American occupation of Iraq is “illegal,” and he warned that unless Arab governments settle their differences, foreign powers like the United States would continue to dictate the region’s politics.

Ok, I am super pissed. I mean, really. Why are we there? If the barbarians in Iraq think that we deciding to pack our bags is a sign of our weakness, well, to hell with their views. I just cannot see how the history of this Iraq war will be written in ways that would suggest that US lost its nerves and was defeated. We indeed effed up in going in, in the first place. But I will be damned if anyone would suggest that we lost. For Pete’s sakes, we’ve done plenty more than what we said we went in to do. At this point of time, I would rather have the 160,000 US soldiers back home, rested and ready to deal with these scumbags on a case-by-case basis. If folks think that Iraq would become another sanctuary for the Al Qaeda terrorist, I would respectfully disagree. Sunnis might hate Shias and vice versa, but I’d be surprised if they let some jokers setup a base to train jihadists to blow up planes in US. Again, I have no emperical evidence that suggests that I am right. But it does not suggest that my gut feeling is wrong either. And if we fear that they will follow us to the US shores, I have three words for them - “Bring ‘em on”.

This whole pre-emptive war was at best a questionable foreign policy and at worst a failed one, but it certainly was not a military defeat.
